In the early 2010s (around 2010), when blogging was just gaining popularity in Iran, everyone was moving towards having personal websites and using Content Management Systems (CMS). In those days, there was a battle between different systems like Datalife Engine, E107, Joomla, MovableType and WordPress; each tried to gain a larger market share.
Initially, I enjoyed "Datalife," but its many limitations and the fact that the entire system was paid led me to switch to WordPress. When I launched my first websites with WordPress, I had an amazing feeling. The only problem was the lack of Persian documentation and plugins, which were all in English and not compatible with the needs of Persian websites.
Right then, I decided to publish my experiences on a website called HamyarWP so that friends who, like me, were interested in website design with WordPress would have a simple and practical resource. In addition, any theme or plugin that I right-aligned and localized to Persian for my clients, I would make available for free on HamyarWP. This is how HamyarWP gradually became the specialized and completely free center for WordPress users in Iran. Fortunately, this path has continued from then until today.
It has always been said: "Do good and cast it into the Tigris, for God will return it to you in the desert." The story of HamyarWP was similar. As the number of users grew, new needs emerged: more professional training and more serious products. These needs led to the birth of HamyarAcademy and Jacket.
With HamyarWP's activity, the wave of WordPress website builders gained strength in Iran. Practically, other content management systems lost their market share, and Persian WordPress sites emerged one after another. Later, with events like the WordPress Summit, the community of WordPress users in Iran became more cohesive. Today, WordPress is one of the most important options for building websites in Iran, and HamyarWP and its associated entities are the choice of many website designers and business owners.
But beyond a website, HamyarWP became a movement; a movement that simplified access to WordPress for thousands of people, democratized its training and tools, and paved the way for the growth of Iran's online ecosystem.
